Apple has officially revealed the premium portion in the iPhone 13 lineup: the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max. They’re equipped with a faster A15 Bionic chip, three brand-new cameras, and a better display that can reach 120 Hz ProMotion high-refresh-rate that can be at a brightness of 1,000 units. Its iPhone 13 Pro will start at $999, and its iPhone 13 Pro Max will begin at $1,099. Both models will be available for purchase on Friday and will be shipped on the 24th of September.
This Super Retina XDR displays on both models have variable refresh rates ranging from 10Hz and 120Hz. They are the same size as the previous year’s models at 6.1 or 6.7 inches. They’re slightly smaller with a smaller notch that will allow greater space on the iOS status bar. The phones will be offered in 4 colours: graphite silver, gold, and a light blue version.
Apple claims that the phones come with three cameras that are brand new. The wide camera will provide better low-light photography thanks to its larger sensor, while the ultrawide will improve due to its bigger aperture. The phone’s telephoto camera can now offer 3x zoom, which enables six times optical zoom across the three cameras. The three cameras now come with night mode and the new macro mode, which allows taking pictures of subjects with only 2cm. The sensor-shift image stabilization feature is now available in both models.
Apple has announced a new Photographic Styles feature on the software front, which appears to work somewhat like traditional camera filters but with computational photography. On the video front cinematic focus, the feature introduced on iPhone 13 will be available on the iPhone 13 will also be offered on both the 13 Pro and Pro Max. iPhone 13 Pro will also be able to shoot at up to 4K 30fps in ProRes. Apple claims ProRes will become added, “in a future iOS 15 update.”
Both devices internals use Apple’s latest A15 Bionic chip, which comes with the same GPU and CPU performance improvements over last year’s. Apple claims that the chip will be more efficient in machine learning tasks. The battery life has also been enhanced by that the 13 Pro lasting 1.5 hours longer than the 12 Pro and its 13 Pro Max lasting 2.5 hours longer than the 12 Pro Max on a charge. The storage options are available on 13 Pro models iPhone 13 Pro range from 128GB to 1TB, the largest space Apple has ever put in a phone. 5G technology has also been enhanced with additional bands that Apple claims will provide greater coverage.
It’s the third year Apple has divided its flagship phone range into regular and “Pro” devices. In the past, many reviews noted that there was no significant distinction between iPhone 12 Pro and the regular iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12. Yes, there was a difference, but it was true that the 12 Pro had an extra camera with telephoto capabilities, lidar sensors, more RAM, and base memory. Still, its base design processor, 5G capabilities, and OLED display were all comparable in some ways but not quite identical to the standard iPhone 12.
