Google has released a major update to the Chrome web browser that includes security fixes. This update also fixes the zero-day exploit in V8 JavaScript.

A zero-day exploit for the uninitiated is a security flaw that hackers (mis)use without the company’s permission. The vulnerabilities are often sold on the dark internet by hackers for millions of dollars.

Google has announced that the Stable channel for Windows, Mac, and Linux has been updated to 91.0.4472.164. This update will be available in the coming days/weeks.

The zero-day exploit is being fixed and is still being used. The spotted anonymous researcher discovered the exploit on 12 July. Google confirmed the existence of this exploit. Google acknowledged that the exploit was known to exist in the wild. Blog. It added that “as usual, our ongoing inner security work was responsible for many fixes.”

How to update Chrome browser

You can manually run Chrome updates if they don’t occur automatically. These are the three steps:

  1. Click the three dots at the top, right next to your profile icon.
  2. Click on “Settings”
