These foods are rich in protein and healthy nutrients that will keep your muscles toned and ready to go for any workouts. Be sure to portion your meals. Proper portioning is key to a healthy metabolism. Plan to eat six meals per day and eat smaller portions than three big meals. You will find that you can breathe easier when exercising, rather than struggling for breath. This is because your body will process less food, which means that you can use more energy for your workout.

3. Keep track of calories and food intake per day.
